Thoroughly entertained were the spectators present at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium to witness Tuesday’s second Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) fixture between Khulna Tigers and Comilla Victorians, which produced s whopping 423 runs, but in the end it was the defending champions who had the last laugh as they pulled off a record run-chase in the competition’s history to win by seven wickets.
The result elevates Comilla to third place, while Khulna reside in the sixth spot of the seven-team table.

Tamim and Hope combined, after opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy fell inside the third over, to a 184-run stand, which happens to be the fifth-highest partnership for any wicket in BPL history.

The Bangladesh ODI captain struck 11 boundaries and four maximums for his 61-ball 95, while Hope hit seven sixes and five fours for his unbeaten 91 runs off 55 balls.
All of Comilla bowlers, including quicks Mustafizur Rahman and Pakistani Naseem Shah, went for a beating.
In reply, Comilla suffered a serious setback as Liton Das was out retired hurt after hitting a boundary. Skipper Imrul Kayes soon followed suit but things only went uphill for Comilla as Pakistani opener Mohammad Rizwan and West Indian Johnson Charles strung a crucial 122-run stand off 69 deliveries.

Once Rizwan got out after a blistering 39-ball 73, laced with eight fours and four sixes, Charles continued to wreak havoc on Khulna bowlers, with Nahidul Islam taking the brunt of the blow as he conceded four sixes in the 15th over.
Charles went on to reach his century in style and then hit the winning runs with a six as well as Comilla reached target with 10 balls to spare. The West Indian remained unbeaten on 107 off 56 balls, striking five boundaries and 11 sixes.
Comilla’s 213 is now the second-highest-ever total in Sylhet.
