The population of Bangladesh has increased to 16 crore 97 lakh 477 people. However, temporarily there were 16 crore 51 lakh 58 thousand 616 people. In the final result, 45 lakh 41 thousand 862 people have increased. 2.75 percent is added as final.
This information is known in the final report of census and house census. Bangladesh Institute of Development Research (BIDS) has published the ‘Post Enumeration Check (PEC) of the Population and Housing Census 2022’ on the periodic report published by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

A seminar on the report was held at the NEC conference room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Monday (January 6). Director General of BIDS Dr. State Minister for Planning participated in the seminar chaired by Vinayak Sen. On July 27 last year, the preliminary report of the first digital census and household census 2022 implemented through BBS was released. BBS report said at that time, the population of Bangladesh is 16 crore 51 lakh 58 thousand 616 people. Among them, 8 crore 17 lakh 12 thousand 824 people, 8 crore 33 lakh 47 thousand 206 women and 12 thousand 629 people of the third gender.
The report also said that the population of the country was 71.5 million in the first census held in 1974 after independence. Then in 1981 census was held. At that time the total population increased to 8 crore 71 lakh 19 thousand 965 people. In 1991, the total population of the country increased to 10 crore 63 lakh.

The fourth census and household census was conducted in 2001, when the population increased to 12.24 million. According to the fifth census held in 2011, the country’s population has increased by 14.4 million. In the sixth digital census and household census 2022, the population of Bangladesh is now 16 crore 51 lakh 58 thousand 616 people.
