Hasan apprises diplomats of country’s unprecedented progress

DHAKA, Feb 9, 2023 (BSS) – Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said Bangladesh, which once was called bottomless basket after independence in 1971, has emerged as an ‘economic tiger’ before the globe under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The minister was addressing the ‘Diplomats Nights’ organised by Diplomats Publication at a hotel in the city this evening.
Apprising the unprecedented progress of the country to the diplomats, Hasan said the position of the country is second in producing rice, fourth in vegetables, second or third in fresh water fish, seventh in potato, first in Hilsha and second in producing mango though its 92nd largest country across the globe.
It has been possible for the magical leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he continued. The minister extended thanks to all friendly countries for being a part of the development.
He said friendly countries have a role in the progress of Bangladesh.
He said Bangladesh left behind Pakistan in all indexes many days ago. Even, Bangladesh left behind India in per capita income during the COVID-19 pandemic, said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.
About twenty diplomats from different countries including Indonesia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Brunei and the United Kingdom were present at the function.
Hasan praised the role of the monthly Diplomats magazine and said it plays an important role in strengthening the relations between Bangladesh and foreign envoys.
Advisor of the publication Abul Hasan Chowdhury gave a welcome address while its executive editor Nazinur Rahim and others were present.
