
Member of Parliament of Chittagong-8 (Chandgaon-Boalkhali) Constituency and President of Chittagong South District Awami League, heroic freedom fighter Moshalem Uddin Ahmad passed away. He was suffering from cancer for a long time.
He died on Sunday (February 5) at 12:38 PM while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital. (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raziun). He was 75 years old. At the time of his death, Moslem Uddin Ahmad left numerous relatives and well-wishers including his wife and four daughters.

Moshalem Uddin Ahmad became the vice-president of Chittagong Government Commerce College Branch Chhatra League in 1969. Later he served as the general secretary of that college branch. In 1970, Moshalem Uddin Ahmad became the Acting General Secretary of Chittagong City Branch of Chhatra League. In 1971 he participated in the war of independence. After the independence of the country in 1982, he became the General Secretary of Chittagong District Chhatra League.

On July 23, 2005, Moshalem Uddin Ahmad was elected General Secretary of Chittagong South District Awami League. After the death of Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu on November 4, 2012, Moshalem Uddin Ahmad was made the president of South District Awami League in 2013. He was the president of Chittagong South District Awami League till his death.
He lost two elections to the National Assembly from Chittagong-12 (Patia) seat. Moshalem Uddin Ahmed was elected MP on January 13, 2020 in the by-election of Chittagong-8 Constituency which became vacant after the death of Member of Parliament of Boalkhali Constituency Mainuddin Khan Badal.
