Travis Kelce may have to include a cute dance number with his (hopefully soon-to-be) mother-in-law at his wedding reception starring Taylor Swift.
Now that we have the freshly aired episodes of “The End of an Era” docuseries on Disney+, we know it was her mother Andrea Swift who actually stole the show when it came to (the singer) meeting, dating and ultimately getting engaged to Kelce.
The fourth episode opens with Swift chilling with her homies in a dressing room big enough that even T’s mom is like, “Geez!”
Taylor Swift claps back with a football player’s locker room comparison, and the audience discovers that prior to meeting his wife, one of Swift’s cousins took a photo in front of Kelce’s locker with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he wears number 87.
Swift is a well-known practitioner of numerology, so sidebar: two plus 87 = 89 and she was born Dec. 13, 1989 so we really should have seen this engagement coming.

At any rate, we find in the series that Swift had never heard Kelce’s name. And then her mother, ツon a pretty cool story. When Kelce told the “New Heights” podcast, which he cohosts with his brother Jason Kelce, in July 2023 that he had attempted to get a friendship bracelet — with his phone number on it! — to Swift, her mother got word of it.
“And so of course I call up my resident expert on Kansas City Chiefs, my cousin Robin, and I go ‘Tell me about this guy named Travis Kelce,’” Andrea Swift says in the series. “And she goes ‘Oh my God! He’s such a nice guy and you know what, he loves his mom so much!’ I rang the bell — I went ‘ding, ding, ding, ding.’ ”
‘Boys and drinking’The Swift family matriarch said the problem then became how to get her famous daughter to meet the tight end.
“I had been so non athlete,” Taylor Swift tells me. “Because I’m not one and I’ve always sort of been like, what would we partay about?”
Well, Mama Swift took that ball and ran with it, calling her daughter to tell her “hey there’s a guy” Joe and Kelce is pretty cute.
“You are, like, saying something along the lines of like ‘You gotta start doing something different,” the younger Swift said with a laugh.
“Hear it was so earnest,” her mother says. “I was like, ‘This is the sweetest thing in the world that he came to your show. He got you something from your world. That said a lot to me.”
“When we first met, he explained football to me like it was violent chess,” Taylor Swift says.
From there, the pop star says, she “became obsessed” with Kelce and thereby became obsessed with understanding the sport he plays, which she says is “the greatest surprise of my life.”
Now, she tracks who is on the injured reserve list for each of the teams, she says.
“I’m like, what does it mean? It’s the size of the injury,” Swift says. “Like are we talking Achilles thing or is it hamstring?”
