The AFP news agency reports that a police official told reporters the event’s “chief organiser” had been arrested, but provided no other details.
Officials would investigate how organizers could issue refunds to people who had bought tickets, the official added.
“AIFF was neither to be a platform nor one of the stakeholders for this private event”.
Messi is currently in India for his ‘GOAT [greatest of all time] tour’ which will see him visiting Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi.
He launched his visit with the unwrapping of a 70ft (21m) statue of himself in Calcutta, built by a team of 45 people in 27 days. Messi beamed in by video because of the security conditions.

“You scammers, the tickets cost a month’s salary and I came all the way from Agra,” one fan told the Press Trust of India news agency.
“I bought the ticket for Rs 5,000 and came with my son to watch Messi, not politicians,” they said.
“The police and military were just taking selfies, and it’s management’s fault.
Joining Messi on his short trip were his Inter Miami teammate and Uruguay striker Luis Suarez, and Argentina’s Rodrigo de Paul.
