75-yr independence of India: Mughal Gardens to be named ‘Amrit Udyan’ Reported by Rexo News:
The gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of India’s President Droupadi Murmu, will get a “common name” as “Amrit Udyan” on the occasion of 75 years of India’s independence, after being long known popularly as Mughal Gardens.
“On the occasion of the celebrations of 75 years of independence as ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the president of India is pleased to give a common name to the Rashtrapati Bhavan gardens as ‘Amrit Udyan’, a statement issued by the president’s secretariat said yesterday.
The announcement came a day before President of India Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to open the gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan tomorrow (January 29, 2023).
Spread across 15 acres, the gardens are thrown open to the public during spring every year when the flowers are in full bloom.
This time the gardens (herbal garden, Bonsai Garden, central lawn, long garden, and circular garden) will be open to the public for about two months from January 31 to March 26, 2023.
