Newly elected independent MP from Brahmanbaria-2 Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan today said people of his area have made him victorious once again by putting their trust in Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Abdus Sattar, previously a BNP lawmaker who recently resigned from the House, claimed that despite his reluctance, he was forced to do so due to the party decision.
He was speaking in parliament as a newly elected MP after winning the by-election on February 1.
Sattar announced his candidacy in the by-election, claiming that the party’s decision was wrong. BNP expelled him following his announcement.
Sattar paid tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the four national leaders in his speech.
The ruling Awami League MPs congratulated him by thumping on their table.
He expressed his gratitude to the PM saying free and fair elections were held based on her instructions.
He also thanked the Election Commission for organising fair and impartial elections.
